The Lottery

Half of the selection is based on the number of lots awarded and the other half is random. A stack of applications is formed, with the applicants with the most lots at the top. If, for example, there is a limit of 20 participants, the first 10 applicants from the top will be accepted. The remaining applicants will be selected at random. This means that an applicant with 5 allocated lots may be ahead of an applicant with 10 lots. In other words, a high number of lots increases your chances, but does not guarantee selection, because randomness has the final say.

However, after the lottery, the order for the waiting list is determined by the number of tickets allocated. Now, the more tickets you have, the higher you are on the list and the closer you are to your desired place.

Lottery results

There is a 12-hour blocking period for the lottery during which the workspaces cannot be edited.

After this blocking period, the results will be published in the profile in the ‘Course selection’ tab and the applicants will be informed by email. Successful applicants must confirm their participation within 36 hours of the draw – that means 24 hours after the results are announced. If participation is not confirmed, the course place is lost and the first person on the waiting list moves up.

Applicants and those moving up the waiting list are informed by email or interface notification that the results are available.

The registration list in the workspace

The tilted hourglass in the waiting list indicates which applicants have been selected. Once their place has been confirmed, they move from the registration list to the participants’ list. The upright hourglass indicates that the place is still unallocated. However, the list is in order. This means that the first person with an upright hourglass is the next in line to be selected.

I am the first one with an upright hourglass next to my name?

That means you’ll be the first in line to take their place if another applicant doesn’t confirm their spot.

Whilst the workspace shows the results for all applicants, this page displays your own result and allows you to accept or decline. You can see how much time you have left to do so, as well as your position on the waiting list. In short, this is everything you need to know.

Then you’ll need to turn a few down. Click on ‘Decline and free Up a space’

What happens if I’ve missed the acceptance deadline?

Then your place on the course has been offered to the next person on the list. This cannot be reversed.

Moving up

if someone has not confirmed their participation the next person on the list is drawn. This can happen immediately if someone withdraws their participation, or later if confirmation is not received within 24 hours. The next person is then notified, and the process of confirmation or rejection starts all over again.
