Create an Incom account

On the start page, click the "Sign up" button in the top right corner and fill out the form — business as usual.

A few things to note:
Name: Incom is a real-name network, meaning you use your actual name rather than a made-up username.
Email: If your university requires the use of your institutional email address, it is advisable to do so. There are exceptions for lecturers and guests. However, guests have limited rights.

After signing up, you will receive an email to activate your account. Make sure you can access your emails and respond to the activation message.

Flagged as a spammer?!

Email addresses from major providers (Gmail, GMX, Outlook …) are subject to additional spam checks. If you get stuck, just get in touch withus

Then …
If multiple departments at your university actively use Incom, you will first need to select your department, then your user group, and then provide the relevant details — such as your programme, semester, and student ID number.

What does "will first be reviewed by a moderator" mean?

If you select the user group "Teacher" or "Staff", an email will be sent to moderators to confirm that you are what you pretend. These are real people, not machines — so it may take a little time. It is therefore advisable (and not optional) to leave the moderators a brief note.
